Blog Introduction

Cathy Guntle was first diagnosed with breast cancer in December 2010. One year later, she received the news that it had advanced to Stage lV cancer and had spread to her liver. At that time, she sought treatment at the Block Integrative Cancer Center in the Chicago area. Her first treatment began January 24, 2012.

Due to the unique approach at the Block Center, Cathy is on a special diet, she also takes 16 different supplements per day and is currently receiving cold laser therapy to help with the neuropathy caused by the chemotherapy. She also has a daily exercise program along with dedicated rest periods.

Currently, Cathy travels to Chicago every 3 weeks to meet with the Block Center specialists and to receive treatment. Cathy is quite diligent in meeting all of her treatment goals and does so with a great sense of humor.

Cathy's close friend Lori Gerig frequently travels with Cathy and her husband Mike to the Block Center to help take notes, as well as research options later. She helps organize and analyze, keeping any extra stress or concern from affecting Cathy.

This blog has been set up to support Cathy, as well as to keep friends and new acquaintances updated on her current status. Along with personal entries from Cathy, Lori may also include medical updates and helpful research she has found.

Thank you for your care and concern.
