16th Treatment at the Block Center

There were no new tests to report on during this visit. The routine blood work continues to remain within acceptable ranges. Cathy's vital signs were also good. She continues to have some knee pain, which we pray will heal soon so that she may resume the level of exercise that she is used to. She also has a few itchy spots left on her scalp.

Now for the good news!! The "pins and needles" sensation which accompanied her neuropathy is totally gone from her hands and feet. She has constantly felt this since February! This is an encouraging sign that her nerves are regenerating from the damage caused by the chemotherapy. There is a  "window of opportunity" of 6 to 12 months for her nerves to heal. Please pray that Cathy will be able to continue with the cold laser therapy to help heal the remaining numbness and loss of function.

To celebrate Cathy's birthday, Suzanne Baker provided a lovely picnic lunch complete with china, tablecloth and wine glasses for our herbal tea! She tried some new recipes for corn bread (one of Cathy's favorites!) and vegetarian soup. We also sang many Christmas songs and hymns during this trip. Cathy continues to display a wonderful sense of humor and God's grace.

DUH!

Today happens to be the anniversary of my birthday. All day I had been personally wished happy birthday, rec'd e-mail birthday wishes, phone calls....and not once did I consider, really, what it meant. Until I was checking out at a thrift shop, that is. Not quite sure now how the conversation began, but the clerk mentioned one of her daughter's whose birthday was yesterday. I replied that she shares my 10 year old's birth date and that mine was today, and I was having a great time shopping. For some reason that I can't remember now--blame it on the chemo that I'm no longer getting--she mentioned actually being a year older with a birthday. All day I knew it was my birthday, but never connected it w/being three hundred sixty-five days older. It's like a light bulb went off. Oh my gosh--I'm 55!  



All the days ordained for me were written in your book before one of them came to be...

In the video in the previous blog, what struck me is #1-the doctors gave this man no hope of restoring "total" function of legs; #2-a stranger cared enough to try and help him; #3-the man was willing to be proactive in restoring his health. What discipline! What an inspiration!
